CALNOC Announces the CALNOC Research Fund™ Dedicated to Advancing Innovative Research

San Ramon, California (EastBayDaily) — CALNOC (Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes), the leading provider of actionable information and research on nurse sensitive quality indicators, today announced the availability of one year grants to advance innovative research and demonstration projects that addresses research priorities emerging from the 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) Future of Nursing Report.

The CALNOC Research Fund™ is now available to both CALNOC participating and non-participating hospitals and doctoral students as initial and matching grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded. Contributions to The CALNOC Research Fund are made possible by generous donations received at CALNOC’s Gala Event: An Evening Transforming Patient Care during the CALNOC Annual Conference this past summer.

Proposed research should focus on one or more of the research priorities cited in IOM Future of Nursing Report: Leading Change, Advancing Health (Washington DC, 2011), including care management models, comparative effectiveness, education, leadership, residencies, scope of practice, teamwork, technology, and value of reforms. Furthermore, research projects should focus on inpatient settings and/or transitions across the continuum of care.

Examples of relevant research include:     Impacts of new models of care delivery on nursing work and nursing care     Impacts of workforce configurations on health care costs, quality and access     Strategies for increasing the efficient education, preparation and distribution of the nursing workforce, including nurse residencies     Impacts of evolving payment innovations on nursing work and quality of care     Impacts of introduction of new technologies on nursing care     Impacts of team-based care models and other advances     Impacts of nurse-led innovations in patient care design and delivery     Comparative effectiveness of approaches to delivery nursing care
