San Ramon, California (EastBayDaily) — CrossFit San Ramon Fitness Club has announced a class to allow runners to learn the proper running mechanics to increase speed and efficiency while reducing impact and injury. The class will be held on Saturday, August 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the CrossFit San Ramon location at 2411 Old Crow Canyon Road, Suite N in San Ramon. The goal of the event is to help people understand proper form when running and to highlight the danger of running without the proper equipment. Many of today’s runners are switching to minimal shoes or are running barefoot and without proper form and knowledge, this transition often results in injuries. Proper technique is essential in making an injury free transition.
“Skill development and video analysis will allow participants to feel and see what needs to be done to vastly improve running efficiency,” said Tim Hill of CrossFit San Ramon. “Participants will learn what body positions and movement patterns to look for in other runners. This will further help to imprint correct movement and improve individual performance.”
Class participants will learn and experience proper movement pattern thru drills, and will develop an understanding of the forces involved in running and how to create momentum with the least amount of effort and lowest impact forces. The class is limited to 15 participants and involves skill development with video analysis that will allow participants to feel and see what needs to be done to vastly improve their running efficiency.
Tim Hill, a level 3 pose coach, will conduct the class and will break it into five sections. The first section begins with a video session and drills and is followed by a short video session to capture the starting point. A few drills are followed to emphasize the basic movements before returning to the gym. The second section is the Pose Theory and Physics in Running that involves learning the how and why of proper running mechanics, common deviations from the standard and how they affect efficiency, speed and injury. The third section contains another video analysis that will give each participant a breakdown on their running technique. The fourth section will be running drills, group instruction and individual direction. The class will conclude with the fifth and final session with a question and answer session, a video analysis of techniques and what to work on in future training.
Interested participants can learn more about the class at CrossFit San Ramon’s website at http://crossfitsr.com/ or call (925) 457-4587 to book a place for the class or schedule a clinic for group sessions.
