San Ramon, California (EastBayDaily) — The life journey of Lipika Borkakoty is driven by dreams and passion and it is rooted on her love for her family, culture and country. In her autobiography, California to Texas & Back, she invites readers to retrace the remarkable odyssey that she embarked on, one that unfolds across continents and time.
The book begins with Borkakoty’s childhood. This point in her life is magnified by fond and unforgettable events that transpired while she was growing up in Guwahati, a picturesque city nestled on the banks of the scenic Brahmaputra River. Her childhood is revealing of her family’s influence on her as well as her love for them. When Borkakoty turned 19, she took a courageous step to leave her childhood home in order to pursue her engineering degree at the southern part of India. After the majestic east, readers will be taken to the effervescent horizons of America where the author sought her education, her dreams and, later, started a family of her own. Borkakoty’s account not only chronicles her past experiences but also explores themes of identity, patriotism, family, the importance of education and strength.
Brilliant in its honesty, California to Texas & Back captures the quintessence of the human spirit as it seeks to prevail and adapt to the challenges that life brings. This book is more than a diary of past events; it is a celebration of a life well-lived and an invitation to partake of the lessons and ideals that stem from it.
This book will be featured at the 2012 Book Expo America in New York City on June 5-8, 2012.
