OSGi Alliance Announces OSGi Community Event 2013 Program

San Ramon, California (EastBayDaily) — The OSGi Community Event 2013 draws the OSGi community and public together to share uses cases and success stories on how new and veteran OSGi adopters are realizing benefits with OSGi. Tutorials, trends and examples of how to resolve challenges with OSGi make it an important event for existing and new OSGi users to attend.

The OSGi Alliance announced today the program agenda for the OSGi Community Event 2103, "Tap into the Broader Ecosystem," Oct. 29-31, 2013, in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The event is co-located with EclipseCon Europe 2013. Early bird registration is open through September 30 and advanced registration is open through October 25.

The agenda includes standard sessions, tutorials and lightning talks, and topics range from enterprise to Smart Home, M2M and cloud OSGi applications.

The OSGi keynote speaker is Ian Robinson, chief architect of one of the most widely deployed software products IBM has produced, IBM WebSphere Application Server, which runs on OSGi. His talk, "Traveling Light for the Long Haul," addresses the experiences IBM WebSphere has had with OSGi over many years.

The OSGi Community Event shares a registration system with EclipseCon Europe. OSGi Alliance members should use coupon code "OSGI" when registering.

IBM is a dual sponsor of the OSGi Community Event 2013 and EclipseCon Europe 2013 and Adobe Systems is a sponsor of the OSGi Community Event 2013.

OSGi is increasingly deployed in large-scale distributed systems as well as small, embedded devices and applications, sustaining an ecosystem that includes operators, utilities, enterprise and embedded software vendors, and device and automotive manufacturers. Offerings include enterprise application servers, enterprise service bus, customer premise equipment and telematics solutions. Accordingly, the OSGi Alliance liaises with other vertical industry consortia and supports joint standardization efforts in industry markets such as Smart Home and M2M. The Alliance supports Eclipse open source projects such as Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools, Gemini, Virgo and the SOA Platform Project.
