Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — The new budget family adventures are designed to provide rewarding experiences that make the most of local transport and simpler hotels. They leave travelers more in control of what they see, where they eat and how they spend their money and are proving a popular proposition in the current economic climate. The trips in this Budget collection are Discover Vietnam (from $1,150 for 10 days), Saigon to Bangkok Explorer (from $1,220 for 14 days), Beijing to Hong Kong (from $1,170 for 15 days), The Heart of Egypt (from $730 for 10 days), and Mediterranean to Marrakech (from $550 for 9 days in Morocco).
What’s more, customers booking a new tour before 08 October, 2011 will benefit from a 5% deduction, on top of the 5% loyalty discount, that applies to second or subsequent Explore Family Adventure bookings.*
Explore is always on the look out for pioneering and original experiences to offer its customers. New for 2012 is the launch of an eight-day Timber Rafting in Sweden tour in which families build their own six-by-three metre timber rafts and learn to navigate them through the twists and turns of the Klarälven River. Stopping off for supplies in picturesque villages, customers will fish for their own dinner and camp on the forested banks, with the chance to spot elk, roe deer and beavers. Suitable for children aged five and over, the price from $1,540 per adult and $600 per child includes three nights’ hotel and four nights’ camping accommodation,; local transport, and the services of a tour leader, driver and raft instructors.
Meanwhile, the five-day Ice Hotel Adventure explores the Transylvanian Alps on snow shoes and toboggans and is suitable for the five-and-overs. Totally isolated in the winter, the only way to reach the Ice Hotel is to take a cable car, but efforts are rewarded with a night’s stay in a room made entirely of ice – including the bed. Offering exceptional value for money for an ice hotel experience, the cost from $790 per person includes three nights’ hotel and one night’s ice hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, one dinner, local transport, and the services of a tour leader and driver.
In addition to Burma, Madagascar, Russia, Sweden and Romania, Guatemala also features as a new destination. The Guatemala Explorer is ideal for adventurous families who are keen to get off-the-beaten–track. The 16-day trip explores volcanoes, jungles and hot springs and visits an important turtle conservation center. This trip has a strong emphasis on interaction with the indigenous communities and includes a visit to a local school.
