Bay Area Ballroom Dancing Company, Allegro Ballroom, to Host Second Annual “Cal-Stanford Big Dance” on November 5, 2011

Emeryville, California (EastBayDaily) — Ballroom Dance Teams from rival schools UC Berkeley and Stanford University are getting ready to wow the crowds with another exciting dance-off at Emeryville’s Allegro Ballroom on Saturday evening, Nov. 5.

Hosting an event in the tradition of Cal and Stanford football’s “Big Game Week” is one of the many ways Allegro Ballroom supports the Bay Area ballroom dancing community. Cal and Stanford will showcase their finest dancers in a friendly competition and the winning team will take home the coveted “Allegro Cup” currently held by Stanford.

“Allegro is proud to host this second annual event which, last year, was sandwiched-in during a Friday night party.” said Naomi Ellis of Allegro Ballroom. “And this year it is a full-fledged event on its own. With over 300 attending last year, and room for more this year, the Cal-Stanford Big Dance is guaranteed to be a hot ticket!“ Bigger and better this year, the Nov. 5 event starts at 8 PM with full billing in Allegro’s beautiful new Grand Ballroom. Both teams are expected to bring large numbers of supporters to cheer them on, and everyone is invited to come and root for their favorite team. Go Bears! Go Cardinal!

Admission is only $5 for Allegro members and $9 for non-members, with a special student rate of $5 for all Cal and Stanford students. One admission fee will be good for both Saturday evening events – The Ballroom Dance Party in the Main Ballroom, and the “Cal-Stanford Big Dance” in the Grand Ballroom.
