Pleasanton, California (EastBayDaily) — The Pleasanton based philanthropy, World of Children Award (http://www.worldofchildren.org), hosted its highly anticipated charitable awards ceremony last week in Manhattan, raising nearly $800,000 for vulnerable children worldwide.
Celebrity Ambassador Stephanie March (Actor, Law & Order SVU), Cindi Leive (Editor-in-Chief, Glamour Magazine) and Honorary Event Chair Joshua Schulman (President, Bergdorf Goodman) served as award presenters. Lauren Bush Lauren, Co-Founder and Chief Feeder of FEED Projects received an honorary World of Children Award for her work serving more than 60 million children worldwide.
“We have invested more than $5 million in programs led by 100 courageous leaders who are helping vulnerable children here in the United States and around the world,” said Executive Director, Lynn Wallace Naylor. “We are proud to honor only those real life heroes who are making real change happen.”
World of Children Award, often referred to by the media as the “Nobel Prize for child advocates,” is a 16 year old philanthropy that provides funding and recognition for the most effective changemakers for children.
2013 World of Children Award grants bestowed included A Leg To Stand On ($75,000 grant) providing free prosthetic limbs to children, Rescue Foundation ($75,000 grant) rescuing young children from the sex trade, Mercy & Sharing ($50,000 grant) caring for orphans, The Sparkle Effect ($35,000 grant) empowering cheer and dance teams for children with and without disabilities, and a child rights and advocacy program The Chaeli Campaign ($35,000 grant).
