Bay Area Sailing School, Tradewinds Sailing School and Club Expands Fleet for America’s Cup in San Francisco

Richmond, California (EastBayDaily) — Over the next 12 months, Bay Area sailing school, Tradewinds Sailing School and Club in Richmond will be adding more boats to their fleet in preparation for the 34th America’s Cup, which will take place on the San Francisco Bay in 2013. They are planning to add 5 to 10 boats to their fleet, ranging from 25’ to 45’, in expectation of increased demand for sailing courses & charters.

The America’s Cup World Series is a professional circuit that has been attracting sailing fans and non-sailors alike with its next-generation racing speed machines – the AC45 wing-sailed catamarans. The AC races are expected to bring excitement, super-yachts, and tourism to the San Francisco Bay Area, and with the developments on their way, it is expected to transform the bay for many years to come.

“We expect the America’s Cup events to generate a lot of excitement for the sport of sailing in the San Francisco Bay Area. With that excitement, we expect the demands for training and charters to increase dramatically over the next couple of years,” says Matt Kepner, owner and operator of Tradewinds Sailing School and Club.

Private boat owners can put their boats in the charter fleet and put them to work to cover much of the cost of boat ownership. The owners may also benefit from some tax deductions in the process.
