Berkeley, California (EastBayDaily) — Berkeley banquet hall at Le Bateau Ivre restaurant, a announces they will be presenting the band Ellis Island on November 30th at 7 PM to 9 PM. Customers can enjoy Ellis Island Old World Folk Band’s revival of klezmer, lively and soulful Eastern European Jewish music. In addition to their klezmer repertoire, this performance will feature Yiddish vocals from the jazz era, American tunes from vaudeville to swing and music from Eastern Europe, Greece, Russia, Italy and Mexico.
Upcoming in December on Wednesdays at 7 PM are: Mal Sharpe and Melanie O’Reilly, who will perform lively Jazz; Ray Bierl, a musical storyteller with a wide range of genres and styles such as cowboy ballads, Appalachian fiddle tunes, vintage rock and roll hits, Tin Pan Alley songs and country classics — delivering a travelogue not just of places, but of time, human emotions, and imagination; and Zamanna, who plays Middle Eastern music from Egypt and the Levant, with a few Turkish and Armenian additions.
Customers can enjoy these musical stylings in couples – or in parties, as Le Bateau Ivre offers banquet halls for private dining. The small room can hold up to 34 people and costs $150 to use while the larger room can hold from 35 to 50 people with a room charge of $250. A personalized menu is provided, with select heading of the client’s choice. A full liquor and wine bar will also be available.
For those who wish to sample Berkeley’s Le Bateau Ivre during the day, there is a brunch menu with fried apple waffles, special eggs and wine. Brunch is available from 9 AM to 2:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
