Berkeley, California (EastBayDaily) — Climate Earth announced today that is offering complimentary orientation sessions to help prospective customers begin using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s new, “Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard.” Organizations that sign up for an orientation get an overview of the standard and its key requirements in dialogue with a Climate Earth expert. Attendees also review a 15-point checklist of their readiness to meet the standard, learn about a framework for streamlined Scope 3 data collection, and have an opportunity to ask questions.
“We’re inviting people to join us for a clear, useful summary of how to conform to the Scope 3 Standard,” said Frankie Ridolfi, Vice President of Marketing at Climate Earth. “Reporting Scope 3 is very doable. Companies are often closer than they realize to having the data, which our orientation can reveal.” Orientations may be requested on the company’s web site: http://www.climateearth.com/orientation.shtml
Climate Earth was an active participant in refining the Scope 3 Standard. The company contributed feedback on both calculation methodologies and business processes, informed by practical experience serving corporate clients. For instance, Webcor Builders used Climate Earth systems and support to become one of the first companies to successfully road test a draft of the standard. Webcor uses Scope 3 information to engage suppliers on reductions and provide footprints to customers in addition to reporting to The Climate Registry.
The Scope 3 Standard describes the business value of quantifying greenhouse gas emissions that are generated across an organization's entire value chain, both upstream and downstream, and it specifies how this inventory should be conducted. Its purpose is to identify the most effective ways to reduce emissions. It was developed through a three year stakeholder process by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
