Closing the Energy Performance Gap is the Third Online Course in the Blogs to BIM: Technology in Practice Continuing Education Series at DesignRealized

Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — The third course in the 2013 DesignRealized Continuing Education Series Blogs to BIM: Technology in Practice will begin on Tuesday, February 19, at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern, with a session on Closing the Energy Performance Gap. This online course, which qualifies for 1 AIA CES Learning Unit, will examine why operational energy use often doesn’t match the energy goals established during the design phase, and what to do about it.

Speaker Zorana Bosnic, RIBA, LEED AP, will discuss how to close the energy performance gap through a holistic design process that incorporates environmental analysis. She will discuss how integration and collaboration are paramount to successful results. In addition, she will cover the importance of using BIM tools along with energy analysis tools from early design all the way through completion and occupancy.

“In my experience operational energy often falls short of the energy goals established during the design phase of a project,” says presenter Zorana Bosnic. “To truly improve a building’s performance it is important to integrate environmental analysis and BIM technologies from early design through construction and occupancy.”

Zorana Bosnic, RIBA, LEED AP, with HOK has over 20 years of design experience throughout America, Europe, Asia, and the middle East. She has provided sustainable design on some of HOK’s most environmentally innovative projects.
