Berkeley, California (EastBayDaily) — As a 2012 "Credit Union Excellence in Lending Award" recipient, Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union was recently invited to attend the 18th Annual CUNA Lending Council conference from November 4th to November 7th at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.
The "Excellence in Lending Awards" were created by CUNA Mutual Group and CUNA Lending Council in 2000 and provide credit unions with the opportunity to be nationally recognized for their lending success. Award consideration is based on a credit union’s consumer lending strategies, innovation in Risk Management and how a member’s financial needs are met while maintaining credit union security, along with a variety of financial weighted ratios.
Cooperative Center FCU Board Member Shyaam Shabaka accepted the consumer lending award on behalf of the credit union during a special awards luncheon on Monday, November 5th.
The credit union, which offers Berkeley area members a variety of personal loans, car loans, small business loans and credit cards, was honored for its “outstanding lending results through stable, sustainable operations”.
Chartered in 1942 to serve the employees and members of the Consumers Cooperative of Berkeley, Inc, (Co-op Market Chain), Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union today continues to serve members from its original group, even though the Co-op Market Chain is no longer in business. The credit union also continues to expand its member base by accepting qualified private companies, organizations, and associations from the area.
With over 13,000 current members and more that $100 million in assets, Cooperative Center FCU offers a full range of quality products and personalized service. The credit union’s dedication to individualized service and low interest lending products leaves no doubt as to why it won an "Excellence in Lending Award".
Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union continues to advance in new product development and low interest lending options for all members.
