East Bay SPCA Announces Appointment of New Board Chair

Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — The East Bay SPCA announced today that Denise Garner has been named Chair of the Board of Directors. Ms. Garner has served as a board member since 2013. Garner, who holds a Master’s degree from the University of California, Davis, has been with the Clorox Company since 1988 in a variety of leadership roles. She was recently named Senior Vice President R&D – Chief Innovation Officer. Ms. Garner is taking over from Jay Hernandez, who has served as Chair since 2012.

“I’m extremely proud and humbled to be chosen to lead the Board of Directors,” said Ms. Garner. “The East Bay SPCA is at the forefront of animal welfare, humane education and veterinary care. It’s a marvelous resource for both animals and people in our community! I’m excited to build on a legacy that was started more than 140 years ago.”

In making the announcement on behalf of the Board of Directors, East Bay SPCA President and CEO, Allison Lindquist, said, “We are very pleased to have Denise as Board Chair. She has long demonstrated her commitment to our mission. Her leadership qualities, vast experience, persistence and vision will add great value as we embark on new and exciting initiatives.” Lindquist added, “I also want to extend our deepest gratitude to Jay Hernandez. Jay has done an enormous job and we’re fortunate that although he is stepping down as Chair, he’ll continue to serve on the board.”
