Mountain View, California (EastBayDaily) — Education-Portal.com has donated $3,064 to help fund the OCW Consortium’s Open Education Week, a series of events planned for March 5-10, 2012 to raise awareness of open educational resources.
The Hewlett Foundation-sponsored Consortium is comprised of universities and organizations dedicated to lowering the traditional barriers to higher education. The Consortium seeks to create and promote free, open-license education resources like video lectures and courses, while simultaneously working to revolutionize educational credentialing processes in order to establish more flexible routes to degree attainment and certification.
Education-Portal.com recently highlighted open educational resources with the OpenCourseWare People’s Choice Awards and regularly features innovative initiatives in open education in Education Portal Insider. OCW Consortium Executive Director Mary Lou Forward has said: “Education-Portal.com is really helping to spread the word about the availability of OpenCourseWare and open educational resources. Thanks for making these valuable open resources known to a wide audience of learners!”
