Fresno Hosts USTA Northern California Jr. Team Tennis Section Championships

Alameda, California (EastBayDaily) — The top 83 junior tennis teams totaling more than 675 players from all over Northern California are competing at several locations throughout Fresno, Calif. this weekend — August 1-3 — to compete in the USTA Northern California Section Championships.

Competition sites include Clovis North High School and Granite Ridge Intermediate, Clovis West High School, Copper River Country Club, Fig Garden Swim & Racquet Club, Sierra Sport & Racquet Club, and Sunnyside Health & Tennis Club.

Teams in the Same Gender division are competing to represent Team NorCal in the 2014 Gar Glenney Cup held in Long Beach, Calif. on August 16-17.

Teams in the Coed division, teams will be competing to advance to the 2014 Jr. Team Tennis National Championships held in October in Cayce, S.C. (14U – Oct. 16-19; 18U – Oct. 23–26).

Players will also be competing off the court for prizes in a new Instagram photo contest when they use the hashtag #NorCalJTT when posting their tournament pictures to USTA Northern California’s Instagram account at http://www.instagram.com/ustanorcal.

Saturday night, the players will all come together to celebrate at a party featuring a BBQ dinner, a DJ playing music, photo booth, raffle prizes, and games.
