Emeryville, California (EastBayDaily) — Head Over Heels Athletic Arts is pleased to announce that Michael Ashe has been selected by the USA Gymnastics Men’s Technical Committee as a gymnastics judge at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Ashe is the Head Coach of Head Over Heels’ Boys Team Program as well as the Vice President of the Northern California Gymnastics Judges Association and Regional Technical Director of the National Gymnastics Judges Association. He will be judging the men’s artistic gymnastics competition to be held from August 17th through 24th.
“This is the most prestigious event in the world for youth athletes,” says Ashe. “It is a great privilege and responsibility to be charged by USA Gymnastics with being a member of the U.S. delegation to judge men’s gymnastics at the Youth Olympic Games.”
The age of the youth gymnasts for men is 16-17 years; born between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 1998. Youth athletes who have participated at the FIG senior competitions or multi-sport games, including continental championships and world cup events, may not participate in the Youth Olympic Games. The rules and difficulty of the routines performed by the gymnasts have been modified to safeguard the health and proper development of these young athletes.
This is the second annual Youth Olympic Games.
