Pleasant Hill, California (EastBayDaily) — This month, domestic open adoption agency Independent Adoption Center (IAC) has a packed social calendar with a roster or events that that they are participating in and promoting. These adoption events will be happening throughout the Atlanta region and are aimed to celebrate the love of family, show support for the LGBT community and inform professionals about adoption laws.
“We’re excited to be a part of adoption events like these in Atlanta and across the country,” said Ryan Schwab, marketing director of Independent Adoption Center, which facilitates adoptions in 49 states. “Every event covers topics that are very important to us and helps the adoption community grow stronger.”
On Friday, November 2, 2012, local IAC staff will attend the “Adoption Law and Practice in Georgia” seminar at the State Bar of Georgia Headquarters in Atlanta. This continuing education opportunity will cover relevant topics like how social media has impacted adoptions, how to deal with hospitals and health insurance in third-party adoptions, attorney responsibilities in representing birth parents, and more. It will conclude with a Q&A session regarding issues in adoption practice.
Saturday, November 3, 2012 marks another eventful day for IAC. The open adoption agency will take part in the 4th Annual MEGA Family Conference, as well as a celebration hosted by the GA Association of Licensed Adoption Agencies (GALAA).
The MEGA Family Conference, hosted at St. Mark UMC, is a unique opportunity for LGBT parents, prospective parents, couples, families, friends, educators and community members to come together to discuss LGBT family issues. There will be workshops covering various relationship and parenting/family topics for parents and prospective parents, a resource fair for adults, and programs for children.
GALAA’s 2012 Adoption Celebration will be held on November 3 from 11 am to 2 pm at United Methodist Children’s Home in Decatur, GA. This event will be packed with fun activities for the whole family, featuring facepainting, food, games and entertainment by Toofpick the Clown.
Then, on Sunday, November 4, IAC will join the RainbowWeddingNetwork for its 7th Annual Gay and Lesbian Wedding Expo in Atlanta. LGBT couples are invited to the Holiday Inn Atlanta Capitol Conference Center for an afternoon filled with dozens of select gay-friendly wedding professionals ready to answer questions and help create an amazing event.
