Ice Chamber Hosts First International Kettlebell Competition in the SF Bay

Richmond, California (EastBayDaily) — Ice Chamber, an athletic performance training center in the San Francisco Bay Area, is hosting the 2013 West Coast Kettlebell Sport Classic (WCKSC) on February 9. The event is the first international kettlebell competition hosted in the Bay Area, and is expected to gather more than 60 competitors and roughly 300 spectators.

The kettlebell competition will feature Women Kettlebell Sport World Champions Misty Shearer (Canada), Svitlana Krechyk (formerly from Ukraine), and Jessica DiBiase (USA) each lifting kettlebells weighing up to 62 pounds. During the course of the competition, each female competitor will lift their kettlebell overhead several hundred times, totaling more than 10,000 lbs in volume.

The event will offer food, music, and prizes, and will showcase performances from beginners all the way up to Master of Sport World Class attempts. All ages and levels are welcome to participate. Online registration is open now through January 28. Registration fees for Ice Chamber members are $55, and $75 for general registration. All competition participants will receive gifts, and the top male and female lifters will receive prizes from Athleta.
