Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Tri-Valley Innovators

Livermore, California (EastBayDaily) — The Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce will celebrate innovators whose work is changing the world, and the tri-valley region at the Chamber’s annual Dream Makers and Risk Takers luncheon on March 27, 2012 at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore.

Among the award recipients are Lynn Naylor, Executive Director of World of Children. World of children is dedicated to dramatically improving children’s lives by identifying and recognizing extraordinary individual work on behalf of children in need. To date, World of Children has awarded cash grants to 84 change makers, working in more than 50 countries and has touched the lives of some 30 million children.

Chevron Energy Solutions, along with Bridglux, has teamed with California cities, including Livermore and Dublin, CA to create a unique alliance to promote innovative advancement in LED lighting technologies. This enables cities to significantly reduce utility bills and maintenance costs. Under the program, Chevron Energy Solutions, the energy services division of Chevron U.S.A., will upgrade streetlights with LED technology often at no upfront cost to the cities.

County Supervisor Scott Haggerty will also receive a Dream Makers and Risk Takers award for his effective and tireless effort to promote regionalism.

According to Dale Eldridge Kaye, CEO of the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce, "Inclusiveness and vision can, and should, start early. The Junior Dream Makers and Risk Takers Award has become a highlight of the ceremony.”

This year, two Livermore High School students, Erika Gruidl and Kendall Sanchez will be given an award for their work initiating and coaching the Shooting Stars Spirit Squad, which is made up of special needs students.

Also presented at this event is the annual Las Positas Sandia Student of the Year. This year the award goes to Jacob Eun Park.
