Backgrounder: the Campus Conservation Nationals 2012
â Now in its second year, Campus Conservation Nationals is a nationwide competition that challenges college and university campuses to achieve the greatest electricity and water use reductions during a three-week period. â From February through April, nearly a quarter-million students at 110 colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada competed to achieve the greatest reductions in their residence halls, working toward a collective national challenge goal. â Students organized in their dorms and online to demonstrate sustainable occupant behavior, proving that the buildings they live in do not need extensive renovation to be greener. â Through committing to taking shorter showers, using the stairs instead of the elevator and other simple tactics, students across the country became examples of how we can all do our part to make a difference in the way our buildings consume electricity and water. â Participating schools used Lucid’s Building Dashboard® to instantly compare performance, share winning strategies, and track standings among the leading schools and buildings. â Winning teams to be announced publicly on May 1, 2012.
