NextWindow Four-Camera Touch Screen Makes Japan Debut

Pleasanton, California (EastBayDaily) — NextWindow, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA), announces that its ProfileTouch 4S, the company’s first four-camera touch screen, will make its Japan debut at the 2011 Flat Panel Displays (FPD) International trade show in Yokohama, Japan. The high-profile event draws the world’s top manufacturers of flat panel displays, parts and materials. The ProfileTouch 4S offers sophisticated gesture and writing recognition as well as dual-user capabilities, enabling increased collaboration in meeting spaces and classrooms. The ProfileTouch 4S will be showing October 26–28 in booth 3501.

The ProfileTouch 4S is available in screen sizes ranging from 32″ (81.3 cm) to 72″ (182.9 cm), and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can alternate between landscape and portrait modes. The cameras, one embedded in each corner, enable consistent touch performance over the entire screen and allow two users to simultaneously interact with the display. The touch screen features a reduced border width, for thinner, more symmetrical displays, and runs without the need to first install drivers for Microsoft® Windows®, Mac and Linux® operating systems. This plug-and-play capability makes integrating and setting up the touch screen easy and efficient. NextWindow has developed optical technology-based touch screens for OEMs and manufacturers of large-format touch displays in Japan since 2002. In June 2010, to support expanding relationships with customers in Japan, NextWindow opened a sales and customer support office in Tokyo. Its fourth office in Asia, NextWindow also has offices in Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.

“We look forward to presenting the ProfileTouch 4S at FPD International this month as Japan is home to many of our top customers,” said Al Monro, CEO, NextWindow. “With its dual-user capabilities and enhanced writing performance, the ProfileTouch 4S is an ideal collaborative solution for business and education customers throughout the region and around the world.”
