Oakland City Center Brings Free Summer Sounds to the Oakland Community

Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — As the warm summer months are rapidly approaching, downtown workers and community members are always on the look-out for opportunities to soak up some lunchtime sun. With this in mind, CBRE proudly offers free entertainment in the heart of the Oakland City Center, the district offering office space, businesses properties and the best restaurants in town.

The hope is that the outstanding noontime concerts and events leave the community entertained and the tenants refreshed and ready for a productive afternoon. For those looking for nighttime entertainment, Oakland City Center offers a restaurant guide and the ability to enjoy post-meal movies-in-the-plaza. Beginning on June 6, and continuing every Wednesday at noon, CBRE will be showcasing top musicians from throughout the Bay Area at the City Center Plaza. The Summer Sounds music series has booked some of the best local artists, representing a wide variety of musical genres from classic rock to hip-hop to Latin jazz. Noontime concerts will continue throughout October at Oakland City Center.

The summer 2012 line-up is as follows: June 6 – The Sun Kings, June 13 – Fito Reinoso, June 20 – Napata and the Kisses, June 27 – Zydeco Flames, July 11 – KJ Allstars, July 18 – Hot Einstein, July 25 – Alexa Morales, Aug 1 – The Megan Slankard Band, Aug. 8 – DYNAMIC, Aug. 18 – Meshugga Beach Party, Aug. 22 – Big Cat Tolefree and Aug. 29 – Pure Ecstasy.

For tenants and neighbors that are looking for more nighttime entertainment in the area, CBRE has lined up some old-fashioned movie-in-the-plaza style screenings for late summer and early fall. The downtown community can look forward to grabbing a blanket and enjoying complimentary cotton candy and popcorn while they watch Hairspray (the musical) on Aug. 10, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on Sept. 7 and The Wiz on Oct. 5. All performances start at 8:30 p.m. and are free to the public.

“Our definition of true hospitality doesn’t stop at the office door,” Kathy Claussen, general manager of CBRE, said. “By creating a cultural and artistic hub for downtown Oakland, CBRE has extended our definition of hospitality out to the community at large in our City Center Plaza. It is no accident that CBRE tenant satisfaction is high at Oakland City Center. We work hard to provide world-class hospitality to our tenants inside and outside of the office, including arts and cultural entertainment for everyone. We look forward to having you join us this season.”
