Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — Oakland Improv group The Afters marks its official its debut with premier of “Tonight’s Town” at Pan Theater.
Tonight’s Town is an improv format that takes an audience suggestion of a town that has never existed, and invents characters and a unique story that takes place entirely within that town. This narrative long-form improv format offers limitless possibility for both comedy and drama. We see how the characters live and grow over time. Their hopes and fears are explored, and often at least one character completes a major life transformation.
Each show is totally original and never to be repeated. Given its unscripted nature, the ridiculous and absurd often take center stage. Whether the plot turns to drama or to comedy, the results are guaranteed to entertain.
The Afters perform live every Friday at Pan Theater. Performances are ongoing, and “Tonight’s Town” will have a gala opening on Friday, October 8, 2010. Tickets and information available at http://www.pantheater.com. Show runs until November 26th.
