Project Team Shows How BIM and IPD Created Immense Savings on Seattle Children’s Bellevue Clinic and Surgery Center During Next DesignRealized Program

Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — The Inside Story of the Seattle Children’s Bellevue Clinic and Surgery Center is the topic of LearnVirtual’s next DesignRealized AIA Continuing Education event. Scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2011, at 9 a.m. Pacific, this program features speakers from NBBJ Seattle, Sellen Construction, The Seneca Real Estate Group, and PCS Structural Solutions, sharing how BIM and IPD shaved 30,000sf, $30 million, and one month off the project.

“This is a truly state of practice project,” says Tony Rinella, curriculum developer for DesignRealized. “The team raised the bar through continuous innovation re-thinking their approach to design issues from aesthetics to operational flow. They also produced shop drawings concurrently with the design to increase efficiency and reduce waste.”

This multi-venue hybrid education program is being presented from the REI, 222 Yale Ave N, in Seattle and web cast simultaneously to venues around the U.S. Local venues will have facilitators to moderate group knowledge sharing discussions as well as question and answer sessions with the speakers. Individuals can watch from their own computers if an event is not scheduled in their area.

The LearnVirtual education team in partnership with AIA Chapters and other local groups produces DesignRealized. LearnVirtual specializes in the design and implementation of education programs for AEC professionals. With an emphasis on e-learning and multi-venue hybrid education, LearnVirtual empowers individuals and companies with professional skills and industry intelligence that can be applied in everyday work environments.
