Pleasanton, California (EastBayDaily) — Scannx, a leading developer of cloud-based document capture and document delivery software and services, announced today that it appointed Coin Copiers, the market leader for public access copying and print vending for libraries in the Houston metro market, to distribute Scannx’ Book ScanCenter product line. Coin Copiers has been selling self-service book scanning systems for almost 2 years in the Gulf States region.
“We have always been impressed with the Scannx management team’s expertise and customer service from when they first launched a book scanning system almost 2 years ago for a previous client of theirs”, said Rick Ohmstede, president of Coin Copiers. “Under their new company, Scannx, they have already taken an innovative leadership position with their patent pending scan-to-iPad and scan-to-smartphones features, their cloud-based analytics for reporting scan usage and statistics, and integrated internet fax services. The Book ScanCenter offers unprecendented ease of use, and the ability to help our library customers achieve their digital and GREEN initiatives while reducing copying costs.”
“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with the leading value-added reseller of library products and services in the Houston Metro market, the fourth largest market in the U.S.”, said John C. Dexter, president and COO of Scannx. “By combining our expertise in document imaging with Coin Copiers’ knowledge of the library market, we can help accelerate academic research and collaboration for library patrons and staff while reducing costs. We can also save over 50% of a library’s investment in InterLibrary Loan book scanning systems.
The Book ScanCenter includes a 15” touchscreen computer bundled with the Scannx software, an 11” x 17” patented book-edge scanner to protect the spine of the book from damage, and is powered by ABBYY FineReader Technology for unmatched optical character recognition accuracy. Scanned images can be automatically converted into PDF, searchable PDF, Word, JPEG, TIFF and PNG file formats and saved to email as an attachment, USB drive, smartphone, tablets, Google Doc folder, network folder, and FTP site to save paper and toner. The ScanCenter can also send scanned pages to a fax and printer. Since the Book ScanCenter can integrate with debit and credit card payment systems, libraries can offer these services free or they can charge for them through a cost recovery program. The ScanCenter includes a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty and offers an optional 45 page per minute automatic document feeder.
ABOUT SCANNX Scannx LLC designs, develops, markets, and supports innovative document scanning solutions for the educational and municipality markets. Its patented Book ScanCenter features the industry's first cloud-based scanning technology integrated with an 11"x 17" high speed USB2.0 flatbed scanner with glass that comes to the beveled edge of the scanner. This patented book-edge design allows books to lay flat on each page, eliminating the blackened areas of text resulting from the page curvature at the book spine. As a result, the scan produces clearly readable text across the entire page. The book itself is also protected from damage to its spine, thereby reducing repair and replacement costs.
