Emeryville, California (EastBayDaily) — Sheet Music Plus, home of the world's largest sheet music selection, today announced the availability of high quality digital copies of more than 400 sheet music titles from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. The “Sheet Music from the Smithsonian Collection,” available at Sheet Music Plus, is a selection of 19th and 20th century sheet music from the Sam DeVincent Collection of Illustrated American Sheet Music.
Sheet Music Plus has hand-picked these titles for their musical and historical interest from over 100,000 titles archived in the Smithsonian’s Archives Center at the National Museum of American History. The collection’s illustrated covers, music, and lyrics provide insight into the country’s social, cultural, and technological history. Sam DeVincent donated his extensive collection to the Smithsonian in 1988. He spent his lifetime assembling the collection, selecting items with interesting cover art and music. The Smithsonian’s Archives Center supports the mission of the National Museum of American History by collecting, preserving, and providing access to archival documents that complement the museum's exhibition, research, and collecting programs.
