Mountain View, California (EastBayDaily) — TCI’s online social studies program is a finalist in the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) 2012 CODiE Awards in the category of Best Social Sciences Instructional Solution. The prestigious annual awards program showcases achievement across the industry and honors the best education technology, business software and digital content.
Celebrating its 27th year, the CODiE Awards are the industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program, and finalists in education technology categories are selected by educator judges who carefully evaluate each award nominee in a comprehensive evaluation process.
TCI, a social studies curriculum that brings learning alive for students through interactive experiences, is fully optimized for teaching online, allowing teachers to immerse students in social studies lessons using today’s broad spectrum of technology. TCI develops its programs based on the belief that the best education marries great content, meaningful technology and interactive experiences. The end result: students of all abilities and learning styles succeed.
“As a publishing company created by teachers, for teachers, we at TCI are proud to be honored as a CODiE finalist by SIIA’s educator judges,” said Bert Bower, TCI founder and CEO. “It is exciting that the judges agree with teachers around the country: TCI’s technology makes engaging students easy with ready-to-use presentations, built-in in-class activities, and teaching advice and support from expert educators.”
During the next phase of the CODiE Awards program, SIIA members, including companies developing the applications, services, infrastructure and tools that are driving the software and services industry forward, will have the opportunity to vote from among the finalists to help select a winner in each award category. Winners will be announced in San Francisco on May 7 at the SIIA Ed Tech Industry Summit.

About SIIA’s CODiE Awards The CODiE Awards, originally called the Excellence in Software Awards, were established in 1986 by the Software Publishers Association (SPA), now SIIA, so pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other’s work. Since then, the CODiE Awards have carried out the same purpose – to showcase the software and information industry’s finest products and services and to honor excellence in corporate achievement.
