Alameda, California (EastBayDaily) — Team Silva Jiu-Jitsu Academy is proud to announce their 11th Jiu-Jitsu by the Bay-“Island Combat”. The tournament will be taking place on June 8th of 2013 at Alameda High School.
The goal of Jiu-Jitsu by the Bay is to improve the ground game of their athletes/fighters in the Bay Area plus network with all Jiu-Jitsu fighters in the area. Team Silva Martial Arts who, in 2009, unified forces with one of the biggest BJJ teams in the World, Team CheckMat, has in their objective to test their fighters and use this tournament to do the Belt Graduations for their own fighters.
On June 8th in Alameda, Jiu-Jitsu by the Bay will be offering fights to all kids from age 4 all the way to age 17 and 18. They also will be having fights for women, adults, masters and seniors in their respective divisions. Jiu-Jitsu by the Bay is considered one of the best local Jiu-Jitsu tournaments in the Bay Area. It's well known for providing the best atmosphere to all fighters and families. Sergio Silva who is a third degree in BJJ and one of the main organizers with several diplomas of Referee from the IBJJF always states, ”When we see fighters hungry to fight it’s in our best interest to serve them the food, so we give them fights. We have folks that come to our tournaments and leave with 14 fights done in one day. This does more than get your feet wet; this is improvement and is helping our local Jiu-Jitsu to grow."
The idea was always the same, grow the sport that is loved so much. In this next Jiu-Jitsu by the Bay they will be awarding Open Weight Champions with Medals, Trophies, Championship Belts and BJJ Uniforms by TufRol. Besides all the prizes, fighters that win at the Open Division will have a complementary registration for the upcoming Jiu-Jitsu Tournament.

"This is the best way to say thanks to all our competitors. We will be raffling a WII (donated by Team Silva Jiu-Jitsu) that only between Kid and Teen Champions will be eligible for," says Sergio Silva. All Kid and Teen Champions will be awarded a medal and trophy. All competitors will receive a free t-shirt.
Several MMA fighters have already been helped by competing at NoGi bouts helping them get ready for their upcoming Mixed Martial Arts bouts. Even a UFC fighter recently came in to fight in the NoGi advance division.
Tournaments are middle sized and perfect for anyone that would like to get ready and support the local Jiu-Jitsu community. Team Silva always welcome sponsors to help to bring more exposure to the local Jiu-Jitsu scene.
The tournament is a great way to spend a day. Kid and teen divisions will start in the morning and adults Gi and Nogi will be battling in the afternoon and at night. Raffle tickets will be available to everyone who attends and the entree fee will be $10 dollars.

There also will be a special prizes for the fastest submission and the most technical fighter of the day.
Raffles, food, great fights and super fights are scheduled for the event. Championship Belts will be awarded to all winners of the adult divisions. Registration is now open to all ages and levels for Gi and NoGi.
