The Crucible Presents Fireside Lounge: Creation

Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — In a celebration of Maker Month, The Crucible is proud to continue its third annual Fireside Lounge series: ‘Conception-Creation-Curation,’ on May 10, 2013. The second installment of the series, ‘Creation,’ will explore how ideas move from concept into creative expression, via a panel discussion and live iron pour by world-renowned Nick DiPhillipo. Live performances by Rockabelly and The Crucible’s Fire Performance Ensemble will round out the evening.

This Fireside Lounge event gathers artists, makers, and community members for a panel discussion surrounding the maker process. Facilitated by Leslie Pritchett, the panel discussion will feature Hopi Breton, Sculpture Artist and Diablo Valley College professor; Melissa Alexander, Director of Public Programs at San Francisco’s recently relocated Exploratorium; and Dale Dougherty, Founder, President, and CEO of Maker Magazine. The three will engage in a lively discussion about the DIY process and answer audience questions.

Fireside Lounge is an extraordinary opportunity to learn more about The Crucible’s incredible artists, educational opportunities, and community at-large. Whether you’re interested in lively art discussions, celebrating Maker Month, participating in hands-on demonstrations, or meeting interesting, artistically inclined friends, Fireside Lounge offers something for everyone.
