The Crucible Sponsors Mission Girls for Behind-The-Scenes Preview of Hot Couture: A Fusion of Fashion and Fire

Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — In the spirit of education, outreach, and community, The Crucible is proud to sponsor Mission Girls for a rare behind-the-scenes preview of Hot Couture: A Fusion of Fashion and Fire.

Hot Couture is a celebration of The Crucible’s 14th anniversary. Melding high fashion with industrial art, the event features iconic fire sculptures, aerial artistry, and a blazing showcase of wearable art from eleven Bay Area artist and designer teams. In line with its community outreach mission, The Crucible will host Mission Girls for Hot Couture’s event preview, where the organization’s youths will receive a glimpse into the show’s conception and production.

"We are delighted to host Mission Girls for the first time at The Crucible with the premiere of Hot Couture!” remarked Carla Hall, The Crucible’s Youth Program Director. “With a tour of the set, a Q&A session with designers, and preview vignettes by the performers, we hope to provide a memorable experience for Mission Girls.”

This behind-the-scenes experience is particularly significant to Mission Girls, whose latest educational efforts revolve around fashion. With plans to launch a fashion show in 2013, the youths in Mission Girls hope to draw vision and inspiration from Hot Couture.

"Mission Girls is committed to the well-being and empowerment of our youth participants through education, culture, and community,” said Metanoia Siamu, Case Manager at Mission Girls. “I'm confident our youths will experience these values through the amazing fashion and art show at The Crucible. My hope is that Hot Couture will plant a seed of inspiration for them to nurture and grow their dreams in fashion and design.

“Attending Hot Couture is an experience of a lifetime. We are grateful for the sponsorship."

Hot Couture will take place on January 11 & 12, 2013. All proceeds will benefit The Crucible’s educational programs.
