Turpitude’s Unique Social Games Model Finds Favor in Silicon Valley

Walnut Creek, California (EastBayDaily) — Turpitude, Inc., an independent online-, mobile- and social game company, announced the closing of an oversubscribed Series A funding round headed by some of Silicon Valley’s most prestigious angel groups, including The Band of Angels, The Angels Forum, Golden Seeds, and Sand Hill Angels. This financing will be used to support new product launches, building a network of games across the online-, mobile- and social game spaces.

Turpitude launched its first social game, Wedding Street, late last year, aiming squarely at the social space’s exploding audience of women, ages 16–55, and has since seen steady acceptance of its “make and share” model for user-generated content by a loyal, highly monetizing audience. The title also presents a topic in which there is tremendous interest, and around which there is an 80+ billion dollar industry in the US alone, creating a multitude of opportunities for partnerships.

“Social, mobile and online games are revolutionizing the games business,” said Stieg Hedlund, Turpitude’s Chief Creative Officer, “and our focus on creating compelling entertainment experiences that specifically leverage these rapidly evolving platforms will keep us in the vanguard. Giving players the tools for creativity and self expression, thoroughly integrated into a highly accessible game is just one example of that.”
