Vital Link Medical Alert Systems Now Offering Two New Products to Serve Growing Needs of Seniors

Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — Bay Area Vital Link, a leader in medical alert systems, recently announced the release of two new products, a fall sensor device and a mobile GPS unit, to meet the changing needs of the aging community.

The fall sensor device is a small, lightweight pendant that is designed to send a signal to our monitoring center when a sudden change in motion is detected. If there is no sudden movement or tilt from horizontal to vertical within 10 seconds of a fall detection alarm, an “unconsciousness” alarm will be raised, allowing the most appropriate action to be taken. A simple fall may result in serious injuries and the fall sensor helps clients obtain immediate help without a lengthy delay. This serves as a great alternative for those who lose consciousness or may forget to press a help button.

The GPS device is a two-way mobile voice unit that uses a cellular network for location service. When activated, the device pinpoints the subscriber’s location using satellites. The operator is then able to communicate with the client over the speaker on the device and dispatch family, friends, or emergency personnel as specified. Whether at home or at the grocery store, this mobile device allows clients to easily press a button and receive assistance on the go.

One out of every three people over the age of 65 falls each year. The chance of survival from a serious fall increases by 80% when help is received quickly. In these instances, an individual may be away from their home, or in an emotional state where they may not remember or cannot physically press their button. The new fall sensor device and mobile GPS unit can provide protection in these cases.

“We are pleased to be able to offer these products as we understand the changing needs of our clients,“ said Art Hoffman, Founder and CEO of Vital Link. “Baby boomers are beginning to want extra protection and there is no longer a fear of technology. We want to be able to offer products for active individuals or those with more diverse needs.” Hoffman believes that these two units allow consumers to choose a product that best fits his or her lifestyle.

Through partnerships with local government agencies and a variety of organizations, Vital Link has established a strong presence in the community. Many of the company’s employees volunteer with associations such as Meals on Wheels to help those in need. With reduced rates for low-income seniors, Vital Link is one of the most affordable providers on the market with pricing for either the Fall Sensor or Mobile GPS Unit starting as low as $36.95 a month.
