Xpera Group Opens Bay Area Office, Forms Strategic Alliance with W.E. Lyons

Walnut Creek, California (EastBayDaily) — Xpera Group, a San Diego County-based construction consulting firm, announced today that it has opened a new office in Walnut Creek, Calif. This is the third office for the rapidly growing company, which also has two offices in San Diego County.

Xpera Group also announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with Bay Area-based W.E. Lyons Construction, one of the oldest family-owned and managed general contracting and design-build firms in the Western United States, specializing in commercial, multi-family, retail, high-tech, manufacturing and industrial construction and management since 1926.

Xpera Group’s work in the Bay Area has increased significantly over the past three years to the point that approximately 25 percent of its current business is in the region. Walnut Creek presented the ideal location for an office to serve the firm’s clients, which extend throughout Northern California, from Sacramento to San Francisco and from San Jose to Napa.

Xpera Group was founded in 2009 by President Ted Bumgardner, a 33-year veteran of the construction industry. The young firm has been in acquisition and expansion mode, despite the volatile economic environment and slow building sector recovery. In April, the firm acquired the assets of Roel Consulting Services Inc., which allowed Xpera to double the size of the firm and create San Diego County’s largest and most diverse group of construction consulting experts. The company opened a second office in San Diego County and currently has over 45 highly-qualified construction, real estate and development specialists covering a wide range of diverse disciplines.

“Xpera has been servicing clients in the Bay Area almost since day one and within the last year, we have been incredibly busy with projects in the region,” said Bumgardner. “There is strong, unmet demand in the Northern California market for someone who can provide and coordinate an entire team of highly experienced, specialized experts for major cases and projects. Therefore, the time was ideal for us to build on our momentum by partnering with a well-established and respected general contractor like W.E. Lyons, which gives us an on-the-ground presence to provide better service and value to this dynamic market.”

Greg Lyons, a 30-year construction industry veteran, will continue to serve in his role as president of W.E. Lyons Construction. He will also join Xpera Group’s team of top construction forensic experts, drawing upon his extensive experience to provide cost of repair and general contractor standard of care evaluation.

“W.E. Lyons Construction has successfully integrated 21st Century technology, innovative building materials, computer-assisted project management and design into our daily tasks. However, we have never forgotten the old-fashioned hands- on customer service that has been our mainstay over 80 years,” said Lyons. “Our strategic alliance with Xpera Group is a natural fit for both firms, allowing us to better serve the needs of the region with a comprehensive construction approach and an unparalleled team of highly specialized experts.”

Xpera Group provides a wide range of construction consulting services, including construction forensics, building envelope and waterproofing and construction consulting, estimating and cost consulting, claim analysis, building condition assessment, construction management and quality assurance. The firm’s expert witness services team serves attorneys, insurance companies, property owners, and contractors who require professional technical expertise. The firm has offices in San Diego and Solana Beach, Calif., and now in Walnut Creek.
