Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — The Oakland Zoo’s Annual Fundraiser, Walk in the Wild — June 25, 2011. Now in its nineteenth year, Walk in the Wild – An Epicurean Escapade! is one of the Bay Area’s premier fundraising events. This year, the engagement will feature more than 90 restaurants, caterers, bakeries, wineries, and breweries. With each reservation, guests will receive a commemorative wine glass and plate to enjoy beverages and delectable cuisine. This adult-only event supports the Oakland Zoo’s conservation, education, and animal enrichment programs. Evening Activities:

5:00pm – 8:00pm, Saturday, June 25- Wine, Dine, & Stroll and experience a unique evening event mingling with friends throughout the Oakland Zoo. Move to the music of Bay Area artists Steel Jam. Watch the sunset while sampling some of the Bay Area’s finest epicurean offerings. Ride on the Outback Express Adventure train and travel through the Zoo’s Wild Australia exhibit, featuring baby wallaroos and emus. Then, experience the views from above by taking a relaxing ride on the Oakland Zoo’s Skyride. This is a night guests are sure to enjoy and remember.

8:00pm – 10:00pm, Saturday, June 25- Dancing & Dessert Under the Stars. Celebrate into the evening hours with live music, dancing, and decadent desserts. Masterpiece, a collective of Bay Area artists, will perform live with a mix of song favorites including Pop, Soul, Funk, R&B, and Jazz.

The East Bay Zoological Society EBZS is celebrating 75 years. The society has managed and operated both the Zoo and surrounding Knowland Park for the City of Oakland since 1982. Under its management, the Oakland Zoo presents an award-winning experience for visitors, fosters knowledge and understanding of animals and the environment through educational programs, and has earned national awards and international acclaim for its animal management and endangered species programs.
