Walnut Creek, California (EastBayDaily) — Learn to salsa, samba and belly dance, and party, while raising money for breast cancer at Party in Pink. Local, licensed Zumba® Fitness instructor, Janice Litvin of Zumba Contra Costa, recently featured in the Contra Costa Times, Zumba Classes Make Fitness Fun (http://www.contracostatimes.com/top-stories/ci_15625094?nclick_check=1), (8/2/2010), is hosting Walnut Creek’s Party in Pink⢠Zumbathon (fundraiser) at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek on Saturday, October 23rd 2:00 – 3:30 to raise funds for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. Kaiser Permanente and Costco have already pledged their sponsorship.
Inspired by the stories of breast cancer survivors who relied on their Zumba classes for physical and emotional support during their fight against breast cancer, Zumba® Fitness has launched Party in Pinkâ¢, a partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, a recognized 501(3c) non-profit organization, to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness.
Janice aims to raise awareness and funds in Walnut Creek for breast cancer research. Tickets are only $15 per person and at least 75% of all proceeds raised will go directly to the foundation. All donations above $15 are 100% tax-deductible. Other local businesses are currently being solicited to join the cause. Each participant will be invited to bring a photo of a survivor or lost loved one to be posted on the walls during the event.
Zumba® Fitness is a sassy Latin-inspired dance fitness program which blends Latin and international music and rhythms to aerobic exercise to create a fun, party-like workout. A Zumbathon is an enhanced Zumba Fitness class which brings together instructors who specialize in various dance forms including Salsa, Samba, Reggaeton, Belly Dance, Bhangra, and more. Participants will party, dance and leave feeling exhilarated by their endorphin rush as well as their thrill at having done their part for breast cancer research.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, is working to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. In furthering this mission, the goal of the organization is to create a community of individuals, communities, and corporations to spread life saving messages and to raise funds to support the cause of ending breast cancer forever.
