Berkeley, California (EastBayDaily) — Critically acclaimed interactive children’s book publisher See Here Studios announced the release of its third iOS Tickle Book® app, “The Three Pandas.” Following its groundbreaking 3D picture book “The Wrong Side of the Bed,” See Here Studios continues to push the envelope for iPad and iPhone children’s books by melding appealing character animation, touch interaction and music into a delightfully immersive reading experience.
“The Three Pandas” is a Universal App compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices. It is viewable in both English and Chinese, reflecting the company’s commitment to multilingual presentation and international audiences. Most significantly, See Here Studios has formed an association with the nonprofit organization Pandas International to donate a portion of app proceeds to panda conservation efforts. Pandas International is a U.S.-based nonprofit that works directly with the China Conservation & Research Centers for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) in southwestern China.
Based on the “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” fable, the book transports readers to the bamboo forest and the home of three adorable panda bears. “The Three Pandas” is a gorgeously animated storybook that features cinematic film intros for key story moments and touchable characters on every page. An original orchestral score, narration and musical sound effects further enrich the reading experience.
A variety of creative techniques were used to bring the book to life, including traditional illustration, photo collage, motion graphics and pixilation – a unique animation method of stop-motion filming live actors. The score and music-based sound effects were inspired by the use of instruments to represent different characters in Sergei Prokofiev’s children’s symphony “Peter and the Wolf.”
Author/illustrator/composer Valerie Mih is an award-winning animator who has designed animation for feature films, broadcast television, gaming software and independent productions over the last fifteen years. “It was very important for us to give back to the pandas and to contribute to the conservation of this incredible species,” explains Mih. “In the course of the production, we fell in love with our panda characters. We’re thrilled that 10% of the app proceeds will be donated to Pandas International to help the species survive for future generations.”
“Pandas International is extremely excited about this new partnership with See Here Studios and the app technology which will allow users to both have fun and learn about the endangered Giant Pandas,” said Suzanne Braden, Director of Pandas International.
