Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — Bay Area industrial arts school, The Crucible, is calling all vendors with handmade crafts, desert costumes, camping supplies, playa bikes, shade ideas, and leave-no-trace education for its Playa Bound Sale and Open House. Registration for vendors closes on Thursday, June 24, 2012.

“We held a similar event last summer and the response was so great that we decided to host a larger event for 2012,” said Andrea Lundquist, Event Manager. “We look forward to growing and improving this event with our fabulous community of vendors this year.”

Playa Bound emphasizes the talent and power behind one-of-a-kind, handmade crafts, and focuses on building awareness of classes in the fine and industrial arts at The Crucible. This year’s Playa Bound Sale is happening on Saturday, July 14, from 11 am until 6 pm at the 56,000-square foot industrial arts studio in West Oakland.

Playa Bound Open House includes kid’s activities, student and faculty art gallery, a bronze pour, and industrial art demonstrations, such as glass flameworking and welding, fire performances and more.

The Crucible is seeking skilled vendors who want to sell their handmade crafts, jewelry, furniture, ceramics, glass beads, vases, baubles, recycled steel sculptures, neon wall art and more.

Special consideration will be given to vendor applicants selling crafts and supplies geared towards the Burning Man event held in the Black Rock desert in August and those vendors utilizing mediums related to The Crucible's educational programs.

If vendors would like to check out the space before applying, they can attend one of the studio tours held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm (except during holidays and events).

New students who sign up for a summer class during the Open House will receive 20% off class tuition. All members who sign up will receive 25% off immediately. Not a member and want to snag the 25% off? Become a member that day and get 25% off a class registration and start reaping those member rewards!

For entertainment, inspiration, information and supplies for this summer’s Burning Man, Playa Bound is second to none.
