Since its inception in 2004, the Montclair Pet & Wildlife Fund has donated more than $300,000 in veterinary care and services, with over $92,000 worth of animal services donated in 2008 alone.The Pet & Wildlife Fund's most popular fund-raising event is the Pet Mayor Contest. Starting in 2004, the Montclair Village Association and the Montclair Veterinary Hospital joined forces to elect a Pet Mayor of Montclair. Local businesses sponsor pet candidates and provide polling places on their premises.The contest now comes to Piedmont! Piedmont “Pet” Mayor Election: Primary Voting: June 1 – June 30, 2013 Vote for Pet Mayor: July 1 – July 21

The Pet and Wildlife Fund is pleased to invite the community to the 2nd Vote for “Pet” Mayor of Piedmont contest beginning June 1, 2013. Primary voting is open from June 1st through June 30, 2013. Be sure to vote for your favorite candidate(s) to make sure they advance to the finals. Unlike your typical election “ballot stuffing” is strongly encouraged.

In honor of being Oakland’s premier “pet friendly community,” the Vote for Pet Mayor event helps the community raise funds for The Pet and Wildlife Fund. The special election takes place at Holistic Veterinary Care, the sponsor’s place of business, and at Fenton's Creamery. The winner will be announced on Sunday, July 21st at 1 pm and all participants will receive an award and prizes at the announcement ceremony.

Each week at the booth, Dr. Gary Richter, Medical Director of Holistic Veterinary Care, will be available to offer free pet adoption and pet care advice. Come show your support for a local charity by voting for the next “Pet” Mayor of Piedmont.

All tax-deductible donations received from the Piedmont Pet Mayor’s election will be donated to The Pet and Wildlife Fund which supports the community by providing local pets and wildlife with medical treatment along with teaching proper care and handling of pets to members of the community.
