Berkeley, California (EastBayDaily) — Christina Dunham, VP of Marketing for venue marketplace Froomz.com, hits the stage this Wednesday, October 3 as she takes on some of the tech industry’s fiercest vocalists during the first-ever Silicon Valley Voice. This “American Idol-style” singing competition hosted by Coverflow and Silicon Valley Bank begins at 7 pm at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco.

Dunham will compete against six other techies, from companies like Google, PagerDuty, Electronic Arts and Khosla Ventures, for eternal bragging rights and the ability to donate proceeds from the event to Seton Foundation, her charity of choice. The final contestants were chosen by Coverflow, a cover band made up of “Internet guys in San Francisco” including Mayfield Fund’s Tim Chang and Raj Kapoor, Facebook’s Ethan Beard and Fandalism’s Philip Kaplan.

This “karaoke competition for the geek set” promises to be full of laughs and good company as these tech execs expose their not-so-serious side. Judges include tech celebrities David Hornick (August Capital) and Mike Arrington (CrunchFund).

“Not all techies are stiff geeky types, we like to let loose too!” said Dunham. “I am looking forward to bringing my hardcore rock star alter ego “Xtina” out for the night. She’s been hibernating for a while now.”

Dunham becomes “Xtina” when she performs as lead vocalist in Honey Circuit, a cover band that plays 80s rock and current pop-rock hits. Some highlights for Honey Circuit include headlining the New Years Eve party at Hard Rock Café San Francisco for three years in a row, performing at AT&T Park, and headlining at the Red Bull Grand Prix Finals at Laguna Seca Raceway.

“We used to gig a lot more, but have slowed down since 2011 when I joined Froomz and my husband, who plays bass for the band, joined BranchOut,” said Dunham. “Getting start-ups off the ground is all-consuming, so we’ve been hard pressed to find time for Honey Circuit.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased here, but each attendee must work for the tech industry as well.
