Oakland, California (EastBayDaily) — Oakland Zoo’s 21st Annual Fundraiser, Walk in the Wild is on June 22, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Now on its twenty-first year, Walk in the Wild – An Epicurean Escapade! is one of the Bay Area’s premier fundraising events.
More than 100 restaurants, caterers, bakeries, wineries, and breweries will be onsite at Oakland Zoo – offering scrumptious samples of the San Francisco Bay Area’s finest epicurean offerings (see vendor and libations list below). With each reservation, guests will receive a commemorative wine glass and butler tray to partake in superb culinary cuisine paired with fine wine, beer, and specialty drinks.
Reservation prices start at $150 per person. This adult-only engagement supports Oakland Zoo’s conservation, education, and animal enrichment programs. Evening Activities: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.: Wine and Dine your way on a walking safari throughout Oakland Zoo filled with great company, animals, and live entertainment. This year’s performers include music inspired from Mexico and the Caribbean as well as a trio of guitars, and an African Duo, creating an eclectic variety of sounds for guests to enjoy.
Animals on the “must see” list include three baby otters, a baby baboon named Mocha, two new Arabian camels (brother and sister), and a new exhibit, “Animales de los Arboles,” featuring two species of coati and cotton-top tamarin. Experience Zoo views from above by taking relaxing rides on the Skyride or the Outback Express Adventure train.
8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.: Dancing & Dessert at sunset. Celebrate into the evening hours with live music, dancing, and delightful desserts. New this year, the sought after party band, Take 2 (TK2) will be performing in the café courtyard. This dynamic 7-piece band covers chart toppers in Rock, Country, Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop.
